아셀러스에서 학생들에게 미국 수화(ASL)의 중요성과 표현 방식을 소개하는 강좌를 개설하게 되어 기쁩니다. 아셀러스 아카데미는 이제 고등학생을 위한 선택 과목으로 ASL을 제공하며 도니 선생님께서 가르칩니다.
ASL은 시각적으로 인지되는 언어이기 때문에 손짓과 얼굴 표정을 통해 표현되는 언어입니다. 이 과정을 통해 학생들은 ASL로 일반적인 인사와 색깔을 표현하는 법을 먼저 배우고 가족 관계나 감정과 같은 더 복잡한 주제로 나아갑니다.
이 과정은 1년 코스입니다. 10개의 단원으로 구성되어 있으며 각 단원은 이전 단원을 기반으로 나아갑니다. ASL 과정을 마치면 학생들은 알파벳과 손가락 철자를 익히고 다양한 주제를 ASL로 표현할 수 있게 됩니다. 주제는 인사, 음식, 날씨, 활동, 시간 등 다양합니다.
학생들은 또한 청각 장애인의 문화와 역사에 대한 통찰력을 얻고, ASL(미국 수화)의 사용 방식과 청각 장애인 공동체에 미치는 중요성을 이해하게 됩니다.

Thank you for opening this new course. This sign language course would definitely open doors for me to volunteer in the deaf community.
My daughter Savannah enjoys this course. As well as my 10 year old, Ana. Savannah decided to pursue ASL as a career because of this course. Our only wish is for ASL 2, but we found a substitute in addition too what Acellus offers. We appreciate this new course, as we’re all signing ASL, learning with her and cheering her on.
Will there be a second course? I am almost finished with this course and would love to do a second course of ASL.
The child has already done ASL one at high school. Are they able to jump into what would be considered ASL 2 at SLS to complete their foreign language?
